This painting was inspired by an extraordinary day at Camber Sands in March 2016. The sun was shining brightly through the deeply foreboding clouds and then the hail came to create a remarkable contrast in light and dark tones.

This painting means a great deal to me; the first time I felt I had truly captured both the impact and the visual sense of what I saw before me. This painting gave me the confidence to take my art further.
