My love for art and creativity, in all its forms, has been a theme running through my life. After studying History of Art at school and alongside my Hispanic Studies University degree, I lived and worked in Madrid. I then pursued a professional career as a solicitor back in the UK before dedicating my time to my family. Throughout this time, my active interest in art has been stimulated by a number of courses and workshops I have attended. With the encouragement and support of the many artists I have met, as well as my teachers and mentors, I have been inspired to further progress my art to a new level.

Much of my work is informed by my experiences overseas; from my earlier travels through Central & South America; to my years working in Spain, all the way through to more recent times across Europe. My love of language, and in particular Spanish, enables me to relate more deeply with the places I visit and the people I meet. I hope this is reflected in my work.

As an artist, I have always enjoyed exploring new techniques and experimenting with different materials and styles. I enjoy painting in oils but also work in acrylic, collage, watercolour, charcoal and chalk. I also like the use and effect of a palette knife.

I take my inspiration from many sources. My landscape works are formed by my emotional response to the scene; the movement of trees and water; the play of clouds in the sky and the partnership between structure and nature. My still life works explore the interplay of composition, light and colour, as well as texture and geometry. Across all my works, light is everything as it changes both mood and view and brings an ever evolving dimension to how I approach each scene.

Wherever I am in the world, the sound, sight and feel of the sea has always been a source of relaxation and fascination. Many of my paintings are inspired by places such as the beautiful coastlines of my native Northumberland and the South Coast of England. My home, in rural Kent, inspires me every day, with the changing colours and seasons forming the backdrop to my daily dog walks.
